Dancing For Birth TM Instructor Certification Process
These steps are explained in detail below
Step 1: Attend Instructor Training Workshop Step 2: Write a personal statement Step 3: Teach Dancing For BirthTM Demo Class Step 4: Obtain a professional reference Step 5: Sign Dancing For BirthTM Conduct/Ethics Agreement Step 6: Specify class details Step 7: OPTIONAL - Outline a syllabus Step 8: OPTIONAL - Supplement your teaching skills Step 9: Submit materials and fee
Step 1: Attend Instructor Training Workshop (Estimated time to complete: 14 hours) Provide copy of certificate of completion of training. Certificate is valid for one year.
Step 2: Write a personal statement regarding your skills and passions as they relate to becoming a Dancing For Birth TM Instructor. (Estimated time to complete: 30 minutes) Statement should be one page or less in length.
Step 3: Teach Dancing For BirthTM Demo Class & Submit Surveys/Waivers (Estimated time to complete: 90 minutes) Teach your demo class to pregnant/postpartum participants at no charge. Submit completed surveys/waivers from 3 or more class participants. If you would like to receive constructive feedback on your teaching, include a DVD of you teaching your demo class. DVDs are not returned.
Step 4: Obtain a Professional Reference (Estimated time to complete: 10 minutes) Provide one letter of reference from someone who knows you professionally. Include their contact information.
Step 5: Sign Dancing For BirthTM Conduct/Ethics Agreement (Estimated time to complete: 5 minutes)
Step 6: Specify Your Class Details (Estimated time to complete: 10 minutes) Provide location, schedule, duration, price, and refund policy for each class you will teach. If class details are not finalized at time of submission, you may e-mail this informatin when available to certification@DancingForBirth.com.
Step 7: OPTIONAL - If you wish to incorporate changes to the Dancing For Birth TM standard class format and content, write a class proposal outlining your syllabus and giving a detailed descriptions of the proposed variations. Otherwise, you may skip this step.
Step 8: OPTIONAL - Attend a comprehensive natural childbirth education series, doula training, or dance classes to supplement your teaching skills if needed or desired. Otherwise, you may skip this step.
Step 9: Submit all materials in one package to Dancing For BirthTM (retain a copy for your records). Include $120 USD ($45 non-refundable application fee and $75 first year instructor dues). Allow up to 4 weeks for review. Check or money order can be made payable to Dancing For Birth and mailed to: Dancing For BirthTM 2427 Glen Arden Drive, St. Louis, MO 63146. ($35 fee will apply for checks that are returned) PayPal option - remit $120 USDto info@DancingForBirth.com.
Successful Certification will grant recipient the right to represent Dancing for Birth TM as a Certified Dancing For Birth TM Instructor (DFB) and to receive referrals from the Dancing For BirthTM Headquarters. The Certification Period is 3 years pending good standing and timely payment of annual dues: $75. Training and applying does not guarantee certification, which is at the sole discretion of Dancing For Birth TM . Process, Terms, and Costs are Subject to change at any time.
